PERSONAL
I write for Forbes now! Curious about the hopes, fears, dreams, and disappointments of my peers and me? Then go read!
In 2009, I had an op-ed published in the Washington Post that was picked up by papers across the country.

Les Flaneurs is a long-distance creative project to amuse me and my friend Chris.
The term ‘flâneur’ as I use it is derived from Charles Baudelaire. It indicates a type of person who wanders a city with no particular purpose other than to see and be seen–wikipedia gives an example: “Highly self-aware, and to a certain degree flamboyant and theatrical, dandies of the mid-nineteenth century created scenes through outrageous acts like walking turtles on leashes down the streets of Paris.” To bring my flaneurs to life, I use glossy cut-outs from magazines as illustrations for oddly-worded stories of the two of us staving off ennui and traveling the world.

I compiled an anthology/portfolio in a class I took at George Mason University. It was entitled “Love That Isn’t Lovely” and included Anne Sexton’s ‘The Love Plant,’ Frank O’Hara’s ‘Song for Lotta,’ and part three of ‘Dark Dream’ by Anna Akhmatova (see Bloglet). There were also other more light-hearted works that gave a fractured view of love, especially women in love. The following three poems of mine were in the collection as well.
The next two were written at different points in the same year in response to shifting ground between my friend Chris and me. ‘From the Vault’ features several pieces we exchanged in 2006.
