Cloudy with a chance of … WTF?
Um, has anyone seen the trailer for the supposed movie based on the best children’s book ever “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs”?
Seriously…WHY? I mean, when I first heard about it awhile ago, I was bummed they weren’t making it live action. But this ‘version’ is absurd. And so unnecessary. How could they do this to me?

Happy Birthday Maura! It’s great to be 5! Love, Mommy
Yeah, it was great to be 5. Because when I was 5, nobody made animation films besides Disney. Computers were lame and big and special effects were laughably bad. B-side celebrities didn’t scrounge for paychecks by lending their voices to poorly conceived characters that RUINED CHILDREN’S STORIES and there were occasionally movies that were NOT BASED ON BOOKS. Is no one in Hollywood writing original screenplays? Or are the execs just too scared to spend money on something that isn’t already a proven classic?
See, here’s the best part about Judi and Ron Barrett’s book: first, a Grandpa tells the story. I had a Grandpa who told stories. Second, it takes place in a town that is adapted to its extraordinariness so that, third, when things get crazy it’s INTERESTING and fourth, the mashed potatoes at the end look like cream of wheat, which i love, so I’m really disgruntled over here.
ugh.
